Some people dream of Helicopter Flight. We make it a reality.
Why the UH-12?
The Hiller’s high inertia rotor system and rugged construction makes it one of, if not, the safest standard category helicopters in the world (based on the NTSB reports). UH-12 flight characteristics are well behaved and stable. Autorotation’s (should you need to perform one) are typically ‘non-events’. The simple design and proven technology makes for a great, safe training platform and builds better pilots.
Your Custom Build
Here at United Helicopter, we have narrowed our focus exclusively to the restoration and maintenance of the Hiller UH12B and C models because they are uniquely affordable, reliable and maintainable. Our completely restored Hillers, immaculate and fully returned to 0 time since overhaul on all scheduled components are less than a 1/3 the initial investment of other piston powered helicopters. When it comes time for service, thanks to the simplicity and efficiency in design, and the readily available supply of quality parts; there is nothing in aviation as inexpensive to maintain and overhaul as the Hiller B and C models.
Most types of helicopter have many parts with fixed “time life” limits. Other than the tail-rotor assembly, United Helicopter Hillers are either ‘on condition’ or can be overhauled when they have been flown a certain number of hours. For example, the transmission has 900 flying hours between scheduled overhauls. This means the helicopter operates legally and safely as long as the parts meet the original Hiller specifications.
